Third Kid Productions is a Toronto based theatre company that was founded in 2010 by Toni Maggio (that's me). The name comes from the fact that I am (you guessed it) the third kid in my family. I'm also on a base ball team called The Illegitimate Children, nicknamed The Kids, and my jersey number is (wait for it...) three. Did that just blow your mind? And since I'm a narcissist, I named a theatre company after two seemingly related (but highly coincidental) facts about my life. Moving on!
Our first production was Missed Connections in July of 2010 at the Bad Dog Short Play Festival where we won Best of the Fest. The show then went on (with some changes to the cast and crew) to win Patrons Pick in the 2011 Hamilton Fringe Festival. This production was asked by Theatre Aquarius to do a repeat performance in October of 2011.
Next we come to Jump! A Musical from the Ledge, which was produced for the 2012 Hamilton Fringe Festival. It didn't win any awards, but it was darn fun and people laughed. The show, loosely based on the Toronto Community Housing scandal, raised over $200 for CityHousing Hamilton.
Third Kid (me again!) is joined by egill designs, owned and operated by Eric Gill. Eric has designed the promotional material for every production we've done, and he is incredibly talented. You can see his handiwork on the Past Shows page, but his designs don't stop at posters. He made a Jump! t-shirt, and actually WORE it. If you would like to contact egill designs for your promotional needs, email him at [email protected].
Third Kid has been blessed to work with amazing directors (Jan Caruana, Aurora Brown, Katherine Stadel and Natasha Boomer), and astoundingly talented actors. We're going to stay on this musical-comedy train and see where it takes us, because let's face it, musicals are just a lot of fun to do. And if it ain't broke...
